Conservation Efforts

The Mara Naboisho Conservancy is a pioneering model of sustainable tourism and wildlife conservation. The conservancy’s conservation efforts are focused on protecting the delicate balance between human and wildlife coexistence. By limiting the number of visitors and safari vehicles, the conservancy ensures a responsible and exclusive experience for guests while minimizing the impact on the environment.
The conservancy also supports local communities through education programs, renewable energy initiatives, and the promotion of women’s economic activities. Additionally, the conservancy works to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts by providing a safe and protected area for wildlife to roam. As a result, Mara Naboisho Conservancy has become a beacon for responsible tourism and a role model for conservation efforts in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.
Staying at Mara Naboisho Conservancy: Wildlife Conservation

With just nine tented camps and lodges, staying here feels exclusive and private. You’ll enjoy fewer crowds, no long lines of safari vehicles, and an authentic experience. But remember, this kind of safari is in high demand, especially from July to October. So, if this is your dream adventure, book your camp or lodge early! Each accommodation offers its unique charm, but all are dedicated to providing a comfortable, unforgettable safari experience.
A Quick Look at Mara Naboisho
Founded in 2010, the Mara Naboisho Conservancy is a collaboration of over 500 Maasai landowners committed to preserving their land. Covering 145 square kilometers, it borders the Masai Mara National Reserve to the southwest, the Olare Motorogi Conservancy to the west, and the Ol Kinyei Conservancy to the east. To protect the environment, the number of visitors and safari vehicles is limited each day, making your safari experience feel truly special and exclusive.
Big Cat Haven: Highest Lion Densities
Home to 70 – 100 lions, Mara Naboisho is famous for having one of the highest lion densities in Africa. The open savannahs make it easy to spot these majestic big cats. A pride of 22 lions calls this conservancy home, and over a dozen leopards roam the area too. The abundance of prey, like elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, and zebras, ensures a healthy ecosystem where these predators thrive. While not directly on the ‘great migration’ path, the conservancy’s migration corridor sees countless animals journeying from the Masai Mara National Reserve to the Loita Plains each May – June and November – December.
A Birdwatcher’s Dream

While the amazing animals on the ground might catch your eye, don’t forget to look up! Naboisho is a haven for avian biodiversity, featuring special bird species rarely found elsewhere. Keep your binoculars ready to spot white-headed buffalo-weavers, northern white-crowned shrikes, pygmy falcons, Von der Deckens hornbills, bush pipits, and more. Bird enthusiasts are in for a real treat as they explore the skies and treetops of Mara Naboisho Conservancy.
