Accommodation and Amenities

Experience one of the most exclusive safari lodges within the Mara ecosystem, tucked away in a special section of the Greater Mara area. Angama Mara is thoughtfully positioned near a part of the National Reserve managed by a non-profit conservancy established by local Maasai communities.
This collaboration has effectively reduced poaching, improved infrastructure, and initiated community-driven conservation projects. The name ‘Angama’, meaning ‘to be suspended in mid-air’ in Swahili, perfectly captures the essence of this extraordinary safari lodge.
Perched high on a ridge, the lodge provides stunning views of the Great Rift Valley and the Mara plains. Its captivating vistas are simply unmatched. Although somewhat larger than many safari accommodations, Angama Mara’s 30 safari tents are divided into two separate camps, ensuring a private and intimate atmosphere. Each camp features identical communal spaces, and guests enjoy the freedom to create their own safari schedule, choosing game drives at their leisure.

The two camps are connected by a stylish central pavilion. This pavilion includes an infinity pool for a refreshing dip, a gym with a foldable glass front for workouts with a view, a Maasai design studio, a shop, a library, and a deck for soaking in the mesmerizing scenery.
A personal ‘butler’ is assigned to each guest party to enhance their stay, while the entire lodge staff is dedicated to meeting guests’ needs. Options for in-tent massages and nail treatments are available for an additional fee.
The tents at Angama Mara are nothing short of spectacular, resembling open-plan apartments. They feature full glass facades for unobstructed views of the Mara plains. Positioned along the Oloololo escarpment, they provide privacy and a 180-degree view of the surroundings.
Inside, you’ll find polished hardwood floors, king-size beds, and exquisite décor. Each tent is equipped with electric blankets for chilly nights and a fully stocked personal bar with your choice of beverages. Blinds can be lowered for privacy or left open to enjoy the stunning sunrise. The view extends to the sitting area, shower, freestanding bath, and the tent’s private verandah.

Tripadvisor Reviews of Angama Mara
I can’t find the words to start or finish this review. Everything, everyone, and the lodge itself are spectacular. If you’re considering it, don’t hesitate—just book it, and you won’t regret it. The views, the rooms, the surroundings, the game drives, the staff, and the food were beyond amazing.
Tamsin was wonderful to work with, arranging everything before our arrival. Sophie, our game driver, was incredible! She knows the Mara like the back of her hand and navigated rain-soaked tracks with ease. She’s a true professional in the Mara. The rooms are stocked with gin, whiskey, and wine, all included. There’s a beautiful pool with stunning views.
Our stay at Angama was wonderful—truly amazing with one of the most incredible views imaginable, making it top of our location list. The service at Angama is highly personalized, with excellent attention to detail. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and we were fortunate to have views of the ‘Out of Africa’ hill and the sweeping Mara plains below. Jess Savage from Nairobi, Kenya
